What is the Threshing Day game?
People use this phrase when looking for a chance to face a dragon-bonding trial. There are distinct things to choose from: Threshing in the Fourth Wing story, Rebecca Yarros’s Threshing Day book, the official Dragonkind browser adventure, and independent games such as ours. The book’s author page describes thirteen stories; it is not a playable game or a download of this website. For the book, visit the author’s Threshing Day page.
The game above is our Flight Trial. The shared theme is earning a dragon’s trust under pressure. Here you are a traveler among storm islands, carrying two tools toward a failing beacon. Your task is to restore a navigation signal and return safely. A dragon watches how you act and may accept a shared return. This is a complete, playable adventure with its own rules and endings.
How to play the dragon trial online
- Prepare. Select two of the lens, repair kit and rescue rope. Read what each unlocks.
- Choose a route. Cliffs, reeds, a wind tower and warm rocks lead to different dragons. The warm-rock path needs the lens.
- Face the rescue. Decide how to help a stranded candidate while the beacon is fading.
- Read the dragon. Watch the wind and its posture before crossing or offering a signal.
- Restore the beacon. Use your gear, recovered records or a companion’s fitting to complete the mission.
- Return. Invite cooperation or take the sheltered way home. A finished mission and a formed bond are recorded separately.
What a choice looks like

Tips for surviving the trial and earning a bond
Preparation matters more than clicking quickly. A lens can reveal a safe crossing, a kit can stabilize the beacon, and a rope can help the other traveler. Without a rope, look for the sheltered ladder. A rescued companion can help with a missing repair fitting. Check the action’s known cost before committing: helping, detouring and beacon work can consume a safe story window.
Match your response to the dragon you meet. Rill values a steady signal; Bracken notices whether everyone has a way home; Mica respects prepared action; Vesper responds to cooperation and useful records. Completing the beacon is necessary for a completed mission, but it does not force the dragon to choose you. Read the ending’s reasons instead of assuming every failure needs another random retry.
Your ending and next attempt
A successful shared return produces a bond card and a local flight record. A completed mission can also end without a bond, and an unsafe or unfinished mission can be interrupted. Review your decisions, revisit a reached choice, or begin again with different equipment. The saved run is shared with the Flight Trial page, so changing pages does not create a second unfinished adventure.
